He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucy Leggett Mitchell and John W. Mitchell; and his brother Ebenezer "Ebb" Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Jewel Rawls Mitchell; his sisters, Frances Mitchell Bryum of Windsor and Nell Mitchell Grantham of Freemont, NC; and his close friend Don Juan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
