She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Brabble and Emma Bullock Brabble; her daughter Michelle Lynn Hughes; and her siblings, James Alton Brabble, Sr., John William Brabble, Henry Wilson Brabble, Esther Mae Timme, Emma "Louise" Peffers and Bertha Stout.
She is survived by: her husband Johnie W. Hughes; her children, Denise Simmons (David) of Windsor, NC, Rena'Barnes (Brent) of Ahoskie, NC and Wayne Hughes (Lynne) of Windsor, NC; her sisters, Hope Williams (Richard) and Linda Fleetwood; and her grandchildren, David (Lindsay), Tristan, Caleb, Cassey, Gracie, Riley, Brenner, Samantha (Matt), Kimberly (Steven), Sara (PJ), Cory (Katie) and Cody (Kelly). She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews.
