She was predeceased by: her parents, Martha Mae and Arthur Odell Dark, Sr.; her husband Bobby Z. Garrett; and her siblings, Peggy Dark Ormond, Delrio Dark Wright and Vernon Canon.
She is survived by: her siblings, Elsie C. Blackman, Gloria D. Bauman, Jones Cannon, Amanda Joann Bell, Arthur O. Dark, Jr. (Linda), Augustus E. Dark and Gerald Mobley (Frances); her siblings' children, Gilda Moore, Norma Martin (Jarvis), Delores Carter, Christie Pearson, Jackie Collins (Terrance), Dr. Marta McNeese (Dwayne), Dr. Jermain Sumler-Faison (Michael), Jessica Hillard (Gary), Kris Dark, Keith Sherard (Keely), Doug Bauman and Dr. Cedric Dark (Janay); and also, Rudine Grier, Willie Little and Howard Ward, Jr..
Visitation was held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church (950 File St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101). A funeral service was held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
