He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Jay Blackburn and Zenna Rae Atwood; his son Ronald Keith Atwood; his stepdaughter Kimberly Denise Shutt; and his siblings, Balmer Atwood, Billy Atwood, Betty Atwood Edminston, Brenda Atwood Motsinger and Elaine Atwood Price.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Lawrence Atwood; his grandson D. J. George; his niece Debbie Atwood Poarch (Jeff Poarch); and his nephew Christopher Atwood (Lisa Atwood).
