He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce A. Hartley and Ruth Towery Hartley; and his sister Karen Hartley. He is survived by: his brother James R. Hartley (Patricia) of Lexington; his nieces, Carrie Hartley (Marcus Kestler) and Christie Hartley (Scott Brown); and his great-nephews, Thomas and Matthew.
