It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dennis Bernard Speaks Sr. of Winston Salem, North Carolina, born in Yadkinville, North Carolina, who passed away on August 6, 2025, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Reuben Speaks and Mae Speaks; his brothers, Larry Speaks, Lewis Speaks, Stanley Speaks and Gary Speaks; and his son Kinard Cheeks.
He is survived by: his wife Alison Speaks; his children, Marcus Hauser, Tiffany Hauser, Dennis Speaks Jr. (Taketra), JoAnne Speaks, Jovon Speaks, Johnathan Speaks and Michael Lewis (Evon); and his siblings, Mary Revels, Beverly Posey (Chris) and Michael Speaks (Robin). He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and devoted friends.
Viewing was held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Hooper Funeral Home (1415 14th St NE, Winston-Salem, NC 27105). Visitation was held on Monday, August 11th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, August 11th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
