He was predeceased by: his parents, Clay Royal and Juanita Mae Peck Royal; and his former wife Shelby Gwynn Royal. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Lyons Royal; his daughter Ashley Willoughby of Cary; his stepson Clint Blevins (Carly) of Roaring River; his siblings, Harold Royal (Pat) of Lewisville, Evelyn Royal (Jim) of Sparta, Nancy Overcash (Wayne) of Statesville, Carolyn Call of Statesville and Kathy Poindexter of Hamptonville; his grandchildren, Delaney Davis and Mason Blevins; and his close friend Allen Wilson of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of donor's choice that helps to support disabled military veterans.
