He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Oscar Edward Cross and Sarah Williams Cross; his daughter Lorraine Denise Cross; and his siblings, Edward Cross, Fred Woodberry, Willie Cross, Oscar Cross, Jr., Clara Williams, Mary Alice Cribbs, Sarah Gady and Marjorie Ivory.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Cross; his daughters, Sarah Cross McRae, Flossie Cross-Simmons and Twann Cross (Nikia Speas); his grandchildren, Charles McRae, Christopher McRae, Rufus Shanks, Jr., Precious Simmons and MacKinya Simmons; his great grandchildren, Makia McRae, Jayda Shanks, Jamiya Shanks, Von McRae, Kendrick McRae and Azariah Deleon; his sisters, Minnie Mason of Marion, SC and Annie Davis of Marion, SC; and his close friends, Fred Cooper, William Rhodes, Deacon Bobby Sinclair and Vincent N. Sherard. He is also survived by three great-great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Russell Funeral Home (822 Carl Russell Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27101). Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Macedonia Worship Center. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
