He is survived by: his wife Harriet White McCarthy; his children, John Erik McCarthy of Baton Rouge, LA, Caroline McCarthy Johnson of Pittsburgh, PA, Gena McCarthy Reesch of Montclair, NJ, Alyssa McCarthy Morgan of Alexandria, VA, Edith Gross McCarthy of Pittsburgh, PA, Leonty McCarthy of Brooklyn, NY, Alexei McCarthy of Winston-Salem, NC and Sergei McCarthy of Winston Salem, NC; and his sister Susan McCarthy Himmelman (Winston-Salem). He is also survived by seven children and six grandchildren.
