It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Donavan Pence in Winston Salem, North Carolina, who passed away on July 24, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Pence and Ruth Pence; his wife Carolyn Meroney; and his brother Troy. He is survived by: his sons, Paul D. Pence (Judy) of Granite Falls and Steven Wayne Pence (Delsie) of Oak Ridge; his siblings, Paul R. Pence (Liz) of Lansing, MI and Rita Lou Spriggs (Jerry) of Walnut Cove; his grandchildren, Lacy Pence Cockerham (Chad), Suzy Lenzmeier (Alex), Autumn Pence and Allison Harris; his great grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb, Macy, Jenna and Noah; and his close friends, Kenny and Pat Daum. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
