It is with sadness that the passing of Jerry E. Smith of Winston Salem, North Carolina is shared. Jerry, born on September 10, 1947, passed away on June 9, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his stepson Kent Welch; and his parents, Betty Watkins Van Glabeke and Clayton Otis Smith. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Acton; his stepchildren, Ashley Walker (Doug), Stewart Welch (Elizabeth) and Katie Clayton (Zach); his grandchildren, Wells, Rayne Walker, Lydia, Will, Macy Welch, Blue, Kent, Charlie and Mary Katherine Clayton; his siblings, Ed Smith (Diana Howard) of Rolling Hills, California and Sharon Warfield (Wayne); his stepmother Joyce Smith Patrick; his niece Kristin; and his nephew Jason Warfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edward Kent Welch Memorial Fund at The Winston-Salem Foundation.
