It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jill Whisnant Lackey in Winston Salem, North Carolina, who passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Jill departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Jill. Though Jill may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Whisnant and Margaret Whisnant (Peggy). She is survived by: her children, Madison Lackey Pichardo (Kevin) and Dr. Justin Trevor Lackey (Katy); her grandchildren, Luca, Clara Pichardo and Elliott Lackey; and her sister Jan Thompson (Joe). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Ardmore Baptist Church (501 Miller St, Winston-Salem, NC 27103). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
