He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Best and Arow Best of Darlington County, SC.; his wife Patty Best (Edwards); and his half-sister Delores Best. He is survived by: his children, Richard Best (Laura), Sandra Best and Kathryn Klein (Brock); his brother Richard Summerford (Linda); and his granddaughters, Emma, Autumn, Saige and Alma.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ken's name to the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission where he often served.
