She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Ford (Ash) and Willie B. Metts, Sr.; and her siblings, John Metts, Willie B. Metts Jr., Rose Marie Mims-Ward, Clara Bell Mims-Ryals, Willie Ela Metts, Shirley Rose Metts and Geraldine.

She is survived by: her son James L. Mims Sr. (Tanyelle L. Little); her siblings, David Mims (Ernestine) of Winston-Salem, NC, Williams Metts of Camden, NJ and Shelly Ford of Raleigh, NC; and her grandchildren, James L. Mims Jr., Jarred Mims (Jalissa), Taiye Mims and Jaelan Mims. She is also survived by great-grandchildren; and a loving host of nieces, nephews.
