He was predeceased by: his parents, Peggy Withers Teeter and McDaniel, Sr. Teeter; and his brother Ronald Teeter. He is survived by: his wife Doris Teeter; his children, Trenece Crawford-Maxwell (DeMon) of Charlotte, NC and Darian D. Holman El of Winston-Salem, NC; his stepchildren, Trevette Williams of Winston-Salem, NC and Monté Southerland of Canada; his sisters, Marilyn Moore of Winston-Salem, NC and Deloies Teeter of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren, Christian Gilliam, Devin Gilliam, Ja'Keem Southerland, Desiree Maxwell, Destinee Maxwell, Ja'Mya Williams, Tyanna Southerland and Ceniya Southerland; and his great grandchildren, Jan Lanie Maxwell, Avaya Gilliam, Karee Southerland and Kay-Dence Southerland. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
