He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Shaffer and Thelma Taylor Shaffer; and his brothers, Charles "Chuck" Shaffer and Steve Shaffer. He is survived by: his wife Paulette Neola Smith; his children, Brian Shaffer (Hayley) and Amanda Lucas Crider (Adam); his grandchildren, Grayson Spaugh, Kaylin Bates, Alyssa Lucas, Brandon Lucas and Lucas Shaffer; his great grandchildren, Hudson Spaugh and Lucy Bates; his brother Arthur "Skip" Sweet Shaffer; and his stepsiblings, William "Bill" Shaffer, Kathy Shaffer and Karen Shaffer.
