He was predeceased by: his parents, Dick Gardner and Sarah Gardner of Charlotte, NC; and his sons, Jim and Rob Gardner of Lexington, SC. He is survived by: his wife Cathy Gardner; his daughter Beth Shipman (Kevin) of Lexington, SC; his brother Dick Gardner (Paulette) of Vale, NC; his grandsons, Logan Shipman (Misty) of South Carolina, James Shipman (Morgan) of South Carolina, Daniel Shipman of South Carolina and Tyler Shipman of South Carolina; his stepdaughters, Pam Brown (Chris) of Pittsboro, NC and Elaine Thielen (Jeff) of Greensboro, NC; and his stepgranddaughter Maggie Thielen of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
