He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Ellen Vaughn and Luther Richard Long; his wife Libby Ann Marshall Long; and his brothers, Carl Long and Kenneth Long.

He is survived by: his daughter Karen Long (Janice Long Baker); his grandchildren, Dustin Baker (Kristin) and Brittany Lawson (Robert); his great grandchildren, Andrew Lee Baker, Taylor Ann Lawson, Weston Douglas Baker and Landon Blake Lawson; his brother Jimmy Wayne Long (Norma); Richard McFarland, Craig, Joy Bloxham, Peggy Williams, Tommy, Jeff and Mosby Vogler.

In lieu of flowers memorials in his honor may be sent to New Hope Methodist Church.
