Ruby Simons Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ruby Simons (Winston Salem, North Carolina), who passed away on May 30, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Cleveland Gardner and Iola Gardner; her husband Will Simons; her former husband Willie Thomas Leak; her children, Debra "Deb" Williams and William "Sonny" Leak; and her siblings, Tenny, Cleveland "June", Leonard, Lorenzer "Lo" Gardner and Sandra "Sue" Sullivan.
She is survived by: her children, Jacqueline "Jackie" Allen (Audie), Cheryl Gardner, Reginald Leak and Alfred Leak (Christy); and her siblings, Betty Lowery, Dorothy Fulton, James "Jimmy" Gardner (Edith), Raymond Gardner, Shirley Melton and Carolyn Hairston (Otis). She is also survived by seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Russell Funeral Home (822 Carl Russell Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27101). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel (822 Carl Russell Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27101). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at the Piedmont Memorial Gardens (3663 Piedmont Memorial Dr, Winston-Salem, NC 27107).
