She was predeceased by: her parents, Jack C. Akers and Cordie Pressley Akers; her husband Jerry; her brothers, Jack C. Akers, Jr. and Charles T. "Charlie" Akers; her daughters, Jerri Sue Shumate, Regina Compton and Deana DeFrank; and her sons-in-law, Johnny Shumate, Martin DeFrank, Jimmy Marshall and Glen Shrewsbury.

She is survived by: her children, Deborah Marshall of King, Cyndi Shrewsbury of Mocksville and Gerry Compton (Debbie) of Yadkinville; and her friends, Brenda Sigmon and Doris Standen. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
