He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Vernon and Mary Vernon. He is survived by: his wife Penny Goins Vernon; and his siblings-in-law, Ray Goins (Pam), Richard Goins (Linda) and Shelby Gregory. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Silas Creek Chapel - Hayworth-Miller Funeral Homes & Crematory (3315 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27103). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 13th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (3250 High Point Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pinedale Christian Church.
