Thomas Cunningham Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Thomas Cunningham (Winston Salem, North Carolina), who passed away on July 22, 2023 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his son Johnathan David Cunningham; his stepmother Geneva Craig Cunningham; and his siblings, Hattie Johnson, Shirley Cunningham, Roscoe Cousart, Billy Cousart and Larry Cunningham.
He is survived by: his daughter Tracy Blackwell Tanner; his grandson Lance Tanner; his siblings, Sarah Stradford, Betty P. Holloway and Jim Cousart; his sisters-in-law, Helen Cousart, Edna Cousart and Michelle Cunningham; and his godchildren, Kahadijah Brown, Ava Carter, Apollo Carter and Austin Trotman. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
One of his greatest honors was given in 1997 when he was named one of the CIAA's top 50 players in history for his contributions to two WSSU CIAA championship basketball teams.
