He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gilbert McLeod, Jr. and Isabel Byrd McLeod; his wife Bobbie Caldwell McLeod; his sister Mary Catherine Downing; his grandson William Chitty; and his grandparents, Dr. Gilbert McLeod and Sarah Cole McLeod of Carthage, NC..
He is survived by: his daughters, Laura Vance (Ken) and Catherine Chitty (Rick); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Vance, Michael Chitty, Sarah Vance (Kyle Burke) and Mary Catherine Chitty; and his cousin Ann Williams. He is also survived by numerous nephews and a niece.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Trinity Presbyterian Church (1416 Bolton St SW, Winston-Salem, NC 27103). A memorial service was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC, 27103 ; Town of Carthage Historical Committee and Museum, 202 Rockingham St. Carthage, NC 28327; or the Marine Corp League Toys 4 Tots program.
