He is survived by: his wife Ruth Elizabeth Barnes; his siblings, Earl Gardner (Louise) of Cary, NC, Gladys Etters of Winton, Ruth Rountree (Leon) of Eure and Carolyn Gardner of Winton; his children, Christina Griffiths (Joe) of Winton, Helen Cox (John) of Apex, NC, Jesse Gardner, Jr. (Beth) of Cape Charles, VA and Joseph Gardner (Tamara) of Virginia Beach, VA; his grandchildren, Aislinn Branch (Jesse), Candice Carr (Thomas), Joshua Cox (Rudy), Nicholas Cox (Michelle), Isaiah Cox (Anna), Taylor Gardner (Keem) and Autumn Gardner; his great grandchildren, Jacob Branch (Mari), Layla Branch (Brian), Jackson Carr, Hayes Carr, Lorelai Cox, Julian Cox, Cordelia Cox, Oliver Cox, Leighton Cox, Reid Cox and Aamir Adgerson; his great great grandchild Coleson Tommy Outland; and his pet Smokey. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, many friends.
