With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert Haywood McDonald of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, who passed away on August 9, 2023 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Haywood Franklin McDonald and Lucille McLaurin McDonald; and his sister Jane McDonald Hughes. He is survived by: his wife Wylene Booth McDonald; his daughters, Stephanie McDonald McVige and Robin McDonald Hosley; his grandchildren, Schuyler McVige, Ella Hosley, Tanner Hosley and Luci Hosley; his brothers, Kenneth McDonald and Durwood Sykes; his pet Playboy; and his close friends, Marilyn Whitted, Deeneen Robinson Dixon and Colonel Baldwin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lineberger Cancer Center at UNC or Cumberland Union Baptist Church in Cedar Creek, North Carolina.
