He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Clint Hurst and Josephine Finn Hurst; his siblings, Clint Hurst, Joyce Hurst Schoonover, Becky Hurst and Jewel Hurst Phillips; his niece Tina Fitzgerald; and his cousin Michael Ramey.

He is survived by: his wife Monica Miller Thompson; his son Nico Thompson (Jonathan Nicholson) of Youngsville; his sisters, Kathy McClelland (Tommy) of Holly Springs and Patricia Odell (Cletus) of Pulaski, VA; his close friend Ken Odell of Youngsville; his nieces, Jennifer McClelland, Nickie McClelland and Robin Costigan; his nephew Tony Hurst; and his cousin Lindsay Argo. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
