He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Keene and Mary Blaney Ewing; his brother John Keene Ewing; and his niece Deborah Ewing. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Peterson Ewing; his children, Sharon Ewing (Alan Ball), Carleen Giles, Mark Ewing (Angie) and James "Jamie" Ewing (Juan Vargas); his grandchildren, Leah Ewing, Matthew Ewing, Rachel Giles and Lauren Giles; his great grandchildren, Aliah and Landon; his sisters-in-law, Miriam Ewing and Kathleen Peterson; and his sibling's children, Christopher Ewing, David Renan and Nina Huang.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in his name to the Brassfield Volunteer Fire Department, 1680 N Carolina Highway 96, Franklinton, NC 27525 Attn: Greg Hackabay.
