He was predeceased by: his parents, J. M. Mitchell and Nellie Mae Pilkington Mitchell; his brother James Melvin Mitchell; and his nephew Michael Pearce. He is survived by: his daughter Erin M. Sodano (Jimmy) of Lucama; his sister Louise M. Pearce (Doug) of Morehead City; his sister-in-law Teresa L. Mitchell of Ocala, FL; his granddaughters, Lottie Sodano and Amelia Sodano; and his sibling's children, Christy Pearce, Alexis Mitchell, James Mitchell and Nicholas Mitchell.
