He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Mitchell and Hazel Mitchell; and his siblings, Geraldine Mitchell, Greta Mast and Greer Mitchell.
He is survived by: his siblings, Rita Hackney (Steven) of Zionville, Charlene Ward of Boone, Dinah Kaye Mitchell of Vilas, Quita Dale (David) of Morganton, J. C. Mitchell (Carolyn) of Baltimore and Buddy Mitchell (Nellie) of Zionville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great nephews.
