He was predeceased by: his parents, Chris Welle and Dolores Welle; his nephew John Kasowski; and his great-niece Maelee Kasowski. He is survived by: his children, Patrick Whalin and Alisabeth Whalin of Englewood, CO; his siblings, Nick Welle, Mary Kasowski (Dale), Gregory Welle (Julie), Barb Lindvig (Curt) and Tony Welle; and his siblings' children, Matt Kasowski (Jill), Greg Kasowski (Heather), Chris Kasowski, Amy Brown (Andrew), Lee Speight (Aubrey), David Speight (Valerie), Hannah Welle, Sarah Mikrut (Garrett), John Lindvig and Emily Lindvig. He is also survived by fourteen great-nephews and great-nieces.

In lieu of flowers, Nick has created a memorial account to be used for funeral expenses.
