He was predeceased by: his former wife Delores; his brothers, Wayne, Leonard and Doug; his niece Darcy Olson; his stepgranddaughter Madison Olson; and his in-laws, Emil and Mary Kramlich.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his sister Diane Fried (John); his children, Chad (Deb), Renee Loh, Sherry, Sandra Kunz, Carla Zeller (Randy), Todd, Kevin (Melissa) and Taun Olson; his stepchildren, Roz Olson (Travis) and Shelly Magstadt (Larry); and his sisters-in-law, Gloria Steichen (Dean), MaryLou Retzer, Betty Lang and Hilda Giese. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
