He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Ely and Alice Ely (Rockey); his siblings, Francis, Robert (Bob) and Betty; and his former wife Rosemary Ely.
He is survived by: his wife Norma Reich; his children, Mark Ely (Theresa), Stephen Ely (Karen), Becky Hild (John) and David Ely; his grandchildren, Alissa VanDoorne (Adam), Samantha Abraham (Patrick), John Sandven, Matthew Ely and Katie Ely; and his sister-in-law Nancy Ely (Audrey Ely). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
