He is survived by: his wife Sue Gerhardt; his children, Jim Bitz (Heidi), Lisa Carufel (Travis), Jenny Birst (Aaron) and Kari Weis (Zac); his grandchildren, Aly (Payton), Elliot, Mason, Wyatt, Jillian, Tyler, Logan, Jaxon, Sophia, Esley and Emery; his great grandchildren, Indy and Camden; and his stepfather Lou Barton.
