He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Trapp and Vivian Trapp (Hill); and his brother Merlin. He is survived by: his wife Fran Potts; his children, Travis Trapp (Melissa) of Moorhead, MN and Kristen Kihle (Troy) of Bismarck, ND; his siblings, Ron Trapp (Joan) of Marion, ND and Vione McCleary (Keith) of Marion, ND; and his grandchildren, Paige, Taylyn and Peyton Kihle. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or Shiloh Christian School, Bismarck, ND.
