He was predeceased by: his parents, James Arnold and Beulah Arnold (Broten); his wife Anita Bird (Achtenberg); and his granddaughter Addison Kreklau. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Hovland (Derek) of Fargo, Marshall Arnold of Tioga, Reid Arnold (Amanda) of Lignite, Joel Bird (Jennifer) of Bismarck and Julie Termine (Keith) of Lignite; his grandchildren, Skylar Retterath (Chris), Alexis Kreklau, Gabriella Bird, Lylianah Bird, Jayden Hovland, Trevor Kreklau, Drew Hovland, Oliver Bird and Avie Undjhem; his great grandchildren, Jay, Isla and Eden Retterath; his siblings, Roger Arnold, Bill Arnold (Connie) and Mary Jo Arnold; and his brothers-in-law, Marvin Achtenberg (Diane), Steve Achtenberg (Romae), Tim Achtenberg (Joan), Jeff Achtenberg (Joy), Dave Achtenberg (Roxanne) and Dwight Achtenberg (Janelle). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Christ Lutheran Church (301 Grove St, Lignite, ND 58752). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
