He was predeceased by: his parents, Art Gilbertson and Lois Gilbertson (Otterson); his parents-in-law, Raymond and Geneva Schnell; and his sister-in-law Mary Kay Christensen.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila Schnell; his daughters, Ivy Twigg (Joe) and Karli Gilbertson (Taylor Celski); his grandson Isaac; his brothers, Jim (Margy), Jay (Samantha) and Jon Gilbertson (Alice); and his in-laws, Gary Schnell (Alex Ryer), Peggy Sundet (Warren), Don Schnell (Karen Mertz) and Ron Christensen (Angie).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Eastgate Funeral Service (3117 E Century Ave, Bismarck, ND 58503). A prayer will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary (825 E Broadway Ave, Bismarck, ND 58501).
