He was predeceased by: his parents, Burton Hammel and Dolores Hammel (Hoeck). He is survived by: his daughters, Terra Scharnowske (Eric) of Bismarck and Heather Hammel of Bismarck; his grandchild Adler Scharnowske; and his brothers, Steven Hammel, Joseph Hammel (Jannette) and Keith Hammel (Karen).
