Marlys Bartels Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marlys Bartels of Bismarck, North Dakota, who passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Orlin Medalen and Ella Medalen (Olson). She is survived by: her husband Howard Bartels of Bismarck; her children, Mike (Carol) of Peoria, AZ, Michele of Glendale, AZ and Steve (Donna) of Lawson, MO; her grandchildren, Rysee Larson (Tyler), Brandon Bartels (Hannah), Justin Jalovec and Jason Jalovec; her great grandchildren, Josie, Luke and Theo; her siblings, Sharon Kvalheim (Dennis) and Rick Medalen (Rosalie); and her sister-in-law Elaine Johnson (Mick). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers and other gifts, the family would like to encourage memorials to be directed towards cancer charities.
