He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Engelhard and Lena Engelhard (Eckert); his wife Bernadette of Alzheimer's; his son-in-law Hal Sathre; his sister Anita; his brother-in-law Clarence Bloms; his brothers, Mert, Vonnie Engelhard, Alvin and Ardy Engelhard; his niece Melanie Smith; and his nephew Kelly Bloms.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Hoovestol (Greg), Deborah Best (Lynn), Lori Sathre and Brian Engelhard (Caroline) of Valley City, ND; his grandchildren, Cassie Klein (John Paul), Keri Ehlis (Brandyn), Kelsey Hoovestol, Joe Best, Steve Best (Ari), Kristy Tarnow (Eric), Adam Sathre, Sara Sathre, Wayne Engelhard (Samantha), Kayla Freitas (Landon) and Casey Engelhard; and his siblings, Dennis Engelhard (Debbie) of Salem, OR and Evelyn Smith of Chapel Hill, NC. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.
