He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Haugen and Dorothy Haugen; his brother Kenneth; and his siblings-in-law, Louise Haugen and Keith Coats.

He is survived by: his sons, Jeff (Kate), Tate (Michelle) and Dallas Haugen; his grandchildren, Danielle Gunderson (Ivan), Austin Haugen, Zach Haugen, Mikaila Morris, Courtny Haugen, Ty Morris, Tina Morris and Audrey Haugen; his great grandchild Ava Gunderson; his sisters, Astrid Coats and Susan; and his brother-in-law Russ Schumacher. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
