He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Carik and Lena Carik (Rousseau); his wife DeeDee; his stepfather Edwin Nelson; his sister Mary Lehnert; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Perpich and Vicky Carik.

He is survived by : his children, Jodi (Scott Becker), Lori (Tim Sayler), Jay Carik (Sue Anderson) and Robert "Bobby" (Marianne Carik); his grandchildren, Amanda (Becker), Daniel El-Dweek, David, Julia Sayler, Patrick Sayler, Ashlyn (Carik), Colin Trottier, J. J. Carik, Christine Sayler, Adam Sayler, Cadence Nantt and Joshua Nantt; his great grandchild Sage Goodwin; his siblings, Alice Perpich, Walter Carik, Patrick Carik and Charlie Carik (Lana); and his pet Ella.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Askew Funeral Home (209 Elizabeth St W, Cavalier, ND 58220). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church (201 W 1st Ave S, Cavalier, ND 58220).

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church.
