He is survived by: his wife Janice; his children, Derek Thompson (Susan) of Golden Valley, MN and Signe Thompson (Jeff Johnson) of Minneapolis; his grandsons, Gavin Thompson, Davis Thompson and Theodore Johnson; his sister Janice Nelson; and his siblings-in-law, John Baker (Jean), Bonnie Thompson, Inger Thompson, Claire Garske (Gary) and Lynn Purcell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
