He was predeceased by : his parents, Henry Kovar III and Anna Kovar (Paska); his wife Ardelle; his sons, Bill, Ray and Casey Kovar; his grandchildren, Sarah Kovar, Natalie Hankel and Jason Kovar; his children-in-law, Linda Kovar, John Tharaldsen and Jimm Renfrow; and his siblings-in-law, Buster Miller, Inez Johnson and Jeanne Kovar.

He is survived by : his children, Dean of Great Falls, MT, Bonnie Tharaldsen of Brooklyn Park, MN, Joanie Narum (Steve) of Douglas, ND, Karla Renfrow of Anadarko, OK and Arva Steier (Neal) of Dickinson; his siblings-in-law, Rosina Kovar of Denver, CO, Marvis Miller of Bowman, ND and Willis Johnson of Dickinson; and his siblings, Vivian Kovar, Gordon, Robert and Dennis Kovar. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Hank's family suggest memorials to the local cemetery association or New England American Legion Post #66.
