He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Weir and Harriet Weir (Rother); his brother Robert Weir; his parents-in-law, Wally and Betty Wald; and his brother-in-law Peter Bentley.
He is survived by: his wife Deb; his children, Gretchen Weir of Louisville, KY and Nicholas Weir (Cori) of Dickinson; his granddaughter Karsen Weir; his sisters, Kay Bentley of Portland, OR, Joan Allen of Minneapolis, MN and Marjorie Hoff of Buffalo, NY; and his sisters-in-law, Julianne Weir of McLean, VA and Renee Hochhalter (Glen) of Dickinson, ND.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stevenson Funeral Home - Dickinson (2067 1st St W, Dickinson, ND 58601). A rosary was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church (725 12th St W, Dickinson, ND 58601). A burial was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at the St. Patrick's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, John's family suggests memorials be made to: Trinity Catholic Schools and Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
