He was predeceased by: his parents, Mike Basaraba and Pearl Basaraba (Ewoniuk); his wife Ann Kanski; his son-in-law Roger Klym; and his siblings, Sam, Peter, Ben, Steve, William, Catherine, Josephine and Elizabeth.
He is survived by: his children, Teresa Kessel (Anthony) of Belfield, Donald Basaraba (Carol) of Fairfield, Bernadette Basaraba of LaPorte, CO, Kiki Haich (Jeff) of Dickinson, Stephanie Klym of Belfield, Patricia Malkowski (Gary) of Dickinson, Yvonne Wock (Jason) of Mud Butte, SD, Kathy Jo Cline (Wayne) of Beulah and Roy M. Basaraba of Beulah; and his cousin Sister Stephanie Dolyniuk. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
