He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerome Emmil (Rollo) and Anna Emmil (Huschka); his brother-in-law Victor Kovash; his son Gerald Emmil; his former wife Luella Emmil (Urlacher); and his brother Herbert.

He is survived by: his daughter Karen Jirges (Jeff) of Dickinson, ND; his granddaughter Avery Kinzel (William); his daughter Jan Privratsky (Jordan) of Walford, IA; his grandchildren, Alex of Cedar Rapids, IA and Megan Knuckey (Thomas) of Muscatine, IA; his son Bruce (Pam Cieszynski) of Bismarck, ND; his granddaughters, Courtney of Golden Valley, MN and Kaitlyn of Fargo, ND; his children, Laura of Fargo, ND and Leon (Leah Roth) of Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Logan, Lucas and Laina; his son Neil (Tracy TePoel) of Minneapolis, MN; his grandchildren, Peyton and Myles; his son Ryan of Fargo, ND; his grandson Talen; and his sisters, Dorothy Emmil of Dickinson, ND, Irene Kovash of Billings, MT and Leona Jacobs (Alton) of Dickinson, ND.. He is also survived by two great grandchildren.
