He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Freitag and Ferne Freitag (Bagley); his brother Bryan Freitag; and his grandparents, Walter, Ellen Bagley, Max and Anna Freitag.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Suzy Anderson (Scott) and Earl Shear (Theresa); his grandchildren, Tim Evans, Kassidy Vine (Koty), Kellee Cheff (Skyler), Mikayla Shear, Brooklyn Shear, Alexius (Eli), Harpster, Alicia Shear (Michael) and Steven Shear (Mariah); his great grandchildren, Luna Evans, Emerson and Bruin Harpster; and his siblings, Twyla Burke (Tom), Terri Whitney (Chuck) and Blane Freitag (Jackie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
