He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Merkel and Violet Merkel (Gulke); and his father-in-law Nolan Harmon (Punky). He is survived by: his wife Stacy Merkel; his children, Marisa Merkel and Evan Merkel; his granddaughter Emerson Merkel; his brothers, Randy Merkel (Susan) and John Merkel (Debbie); and his mother-in-law Sharon Harmon. He is also survived by four sisters-in-law and their husbands.
