He was predeceased by: his parents, Ingvald and Katherine (McGowan); his sisters, Darlene Nelson, Shirley Johnson and Cheryl Wegner; and his son Michael Birk.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Price; his son Daniel; his daughter-in-law Ana Sempertegui; his granddaughter Morgan; and his sister Mary Curtis (Richard). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
