He was predeceased by: his parents, George Dixon and Isabel Dixon; his wife Virginia [Ginny] Jordahl Slater; his sister Laura Hinderacker; and his close friend Callie Dady.
He is survived by: his son Jed; his close friends, Moorhead and Fargo; his brother David Dixon; and his children, Stephen Dixon (Carol), Sue Ellen Wasserburger (Jon), James E. Dixon Jr. [Jed] (Raila) and Melissa Dixon Armfield (Jim). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
